It’s the sales season and we’re sharing our best tips with you on how to make the most of it and shop smart. Because even if we love hunting for discounts, we have to keep in mind that we’re not buying a price, but a piece of clothing that we want to love and, above all, wear!
Before heading to the store and risking buying anything, start by detoxing your wardrobe:
• We get rid of clothes that we haven’t worn, that are too big, too small or worn out. There’s no point in accumulating tons of clothes unnecessarily, what we want to do is declutter our wardrobe;
• Then, we organize our wardrobe so that we can see clearly and have a good overview of our inventory. We can classify our clothes by category or by color according to our preference and what will be the simplest and most visual for us;
• Once we have a clearer picture, we take the time to properly assess our needs and what is missing from our current wardrobe in order to complete our acquisitions. We notice that we already have five pairs of black pants, so it probably won’t be necessary to buy a new one!
However, the sales period is a great opportunity to renew our basics, those timeless and versatile pieces that are essential to have in our wardrobe and for which it is worth paying more for quality so that they last a long time, such as a beautiful black jacket or a white blouse.
• Finally, write your needs on a list and try to stick to it! You can even take it a step further by setting a budget accordingly.
Once the wardrobe is decluttered and our needs are well established, we ask ourselves these three questions before buying an item of clothing:
You fall under the spell of a magnificent pair of high-heeled shoes but you never wear them or only wear them occasionally, it may not be a good purchase, even at half price.
This is a crucial question if you want to make smart and versatile purchases. If you can’t do that, you risk ending up with an item of clothing that you won’t know how to style, that you’ll always wear the same way or, worse, that you simply won’t wear at all. Would I buy this item if it were full price?
If the answer is NO, it probably won’t be a good purchase. For example, the item is a little tight or a little too big and you think to yourself: ‘Ha! It doesn’t matter, it’s cheap, I’ll lose weight! ‘ ‘ & nbsp; em > It’s NO! p> & nbsp; em > The only exception to this third question is if you want something you’ve been coveting for a long time that was originally out of your budget. Now’s the time to treat yourself, but it still has to meet the first two criteria.
Inspect the clothes:
During the sales, some merchants sometimes take the opportunity to put out items from past seasons, so it’s important to inspect the clothes carefully to make sure there are no defects or small imperfections.
Find out about the return or refund policy:
As the sales period often coincides with the end of the season for retailers, some items may be marked ‘Final Sale’.
It is therefore important to find out about the return or refund policy for items before returning home with something that cannot be returned or even exchanged.
