The different types of silhouettes

Every person has a unique morphology, but some common characteristics allow silhouettes to be grouped into large categories. Knowing your silhouette type helps to better understand your body and choose cuts, materials, and proportions that highlight your assets while harmonizing the whole. Here are the main types of female silhouettes.

Type A Hips are wider than shoulders (by at least one inch). Goal Highlight the upper body to balance the silhouette.

Type V Shoulders are wider than hips (by at least one inch). Goal Add shape and roundness to the hips.

Type X Shoulders and hips are of similar width, with a very marked waist (about 10 inches difference). Goal Preserve the natural balance of the hourglass silhouette.

Type H / I Shoulders and hips are aligned, with a poorly defined waist. Goal Create an illusion of a waist to break the rectangular effect.   Note: The difference between H and I lies in the bone structure. I: fine and delicate structure. H: stronger or standard structure.

How to determine your morphology?

To identify your silhouette type, three main measurements should be observed: Shoulders Waist Hips It is perfectly normal to fall between two categories, as every body is unique and does not always fit perfectly into a single letter.
